When my customers use the search button on the shop page , the results of the searched images are all different sizes making it very messy for the customer to decide on a purchase.

You are currently using the global search of WordPress. What you need is to use a special Search specially made for WooCommerce. There are plenty of plugin for this, but I never tried it so I cant recommend one better than another.
What I recommend tho is that if you want to customize the look and feel of your shop, the best tools to do it is with Elementor Pro (paid version). it allows you to customize the shop archives and single page with the Elementor builder: https://elementor.com/blog/introducing-woocommerce-builder/
