The background issue was about the WP Fastest Cache plugin. I have deleted cache and minified files to fix it,
About the mobile menu, Il you go to wp-admin>theme options>menu options>mobile settings You will see every color is set to white. Background and text http://www.virginialillye.com/
The last instagram API doesn't allow Essential Grid to update its feeds automatically. There his nothing we can do for now.

Thank you for fixing the background, will this stay now or is best to use a different cache plugin?
Thank you also re mobile menu, don't know why that changed to white. Brought it back to black and all good now.
Fingers crossed there is an update on the Instagram API soon!
