While working with setting up the Sonaar theme, I realized that several plugins bundled with the theme cannot actually be upgraded in a regular manner. 

While I went ahead and installed ACF Pro with no issue, I'm confused as to how to upgrade Slider Revolution. 

• The Slider Revolution dashboard still prompts the user to purchase a license as it cannot be upgraded or templates cannot be purchased for it till a license code is applied. This lead to us purchasing a license to unlock these features.
• However, when the license key was applied, we received the popup message attached, saying "If you purchased a theme that bundled Slider Revolution"...
  • "No activation needed to use to use / create sliders with Slider Revolution"
  • "Update manually through your theme"

The Slider Revolution plugin appears normally in the plugins admin page, but doesn't report that it needs an upgrade regardless of whether or not it is pretty out of date.

How do I get this to work so that Revolution Slider will actually stay up to date? If it was Sonaar's intent to never have this plugin updated outside of theme updates themselves doing it, where was the disclaimer that users won't be able to apply Rev Slider license keys if they want to?
