Its not possible because the past events are basically past published posts, and upcoming events are recognized in WordPress as unpublished post (future post). Essential grid cannot naturally display unpublished post on the front-end so we had to tweak the plugin in favor of only showing upcoming post on the frontend instead of published post. This is very very technical in a WordPress back-end point of view and hard to explain.
But if Essential Grid plugin would support future post to display in the front-end, that would fix it. but currently, they dont.
I added every possible grid from elementor with source: Events.
In elementor editor it shows all my event's photos but when updating the changes they do not show up.

for a technical reason, you cannot use past events in the event grid. you can only use Upcoming events.
for past events, you can use the Element Event Widget.
