pro MP3 plugin deactivates and doesn't overwrite old version on update

    Applies to multiple sites.

I've noticed that when the Pro MP3 plugin updates, it doesn't overwrite the previous version and also deactivates - meaning all styling settings are also turned off. One client had 5 versions of the pro plugin installed. This is causing quite a few issues with my clients' sites not looking as they should.

Is there a way to overwrite and keep activated when the plugin updates?

    Hi,

I can't seem to be able to reproduce on my test servers with multisites. Could you please elaborate on the steps to reproduce the issue on my end and I will check this for you.

If you can provide me temporary access so I can check, that would help me a lot.

    Thanks,

    Hi Max,

Every time I update the plugin via WordPress > dashboard > plugins page I get multiple versions of the pro plugin (all with different version numbers, eg. 2.4.1 & 2.4.2 etc) - it doesn't seem to overwrite the previous version. But also the Pro licence deactivates when I update the pro plugin too.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks

I understand your issue but I can't replicate it on my end so it's difficult for me to resolve without doing some test and without having access to your server.

My guest is that your server don't have permission to overwrite files..

What's the name of the plugin folders on your server?

    Thanks,

Hi - it's only the Sonaar MP3 plugin that does this, no others so I presumed it wasn't an issue with the host/server. As far as I know, I don't have access to the plugin folders - I add/update through the wordpress dashboard only. Appreciate you can't re-create the issue though. Any advice/pointers on what I'm looking for?

    thanks

First thing I'd try is to delete all the pro plugins instance and reinstall it with new version.

Done that several times on more than 1 site. Anything else to try?

    thanks

So you only have 1 pro plugin installed and its the latest version (2.4.1)?

If so, you should not be asked to update the plugin since its the latest available.

    That's an unhelpful reply.

Yes, it is now up to date. However, this has happened on 15 sites (+ staging sites) for several months - every time there is an update. I can't screen-grab/who you issues at my end because I've had to delete the plugin & reinstall the plugin to ensure my clients' sites are working which did 'fix' the errors but didn't fix the issue that every time I need to update the plugin it deactivates the pro licence and installs multiple copies.

    Hi,

In order to investigate more on the issue with our senior developer, I'll need access to your FTP and access to your WordPress dashboard.

    Thanks,

Hi Max - I appreciate the offer but I may as well wait to see if it happens again on the next update and raise a support ticket if it does. I'll double check with my host to make sure there are no access/restrictions on the plugin folder too.

    thanks
