    Hi - this news page uses the blog list template as opposed to the essential grid.

    I can't seem to locate any options to filter the posts by category - it just displays all posts - how can I do this?

    Hi Stuart, 
    No filtiring option is available but each category has its own archive page. 
    Eg: To reach the category "General", the permalink is https://psysisters.com/category/general/

    Ok thanks  - is it possible to edit this archive page at all? To remove the sidebar and add a background - where would I find it in the back end?

    This page customization is very limited. 
    Go to wp-admin>theme option>posts settings.
    Here you disable the single post sidebar. This setting is also applied to the category archive page.  
    You cant change the background on this specific page, but you can change it for the whole site to wp-admin>theme options>look and feel.
