I have successfully installed the MP3 plugin on my website and can play and download recordings that are hosted on my server. My problem is that I cannot download recordings from the streaming service I have signed up with. I can play the recordings but when I click the download button on the Sonaar player I get taken to the streaming service website where the recording automatically starts playing. The streaming service I am using is publit.io (Publitio) and I see they are not on your list of Supported Audio Streaming Providers. Is this likely the cause of the problem I am having and is my only option to to sign up with a different streaming service that is supported? I am otherwise really happy with publitio and would like to stay with them if possible. The service is free for up to 5 GB of storage and the interface is intuitive and easy to use.
Unfortunately you cannot download files directly from an external server than your by security mesure. The only option is to download it from the streaming service website.
Hi Max and thank you for your prompt response to my question. Just to be sure I fully understand the situation, are you saying that no matter what audio player I use on my website, or streaming service I host my recordings on, neither myself nor my potential clients would be able to download a recording by simply clicking the download button on the audio player? Or are you saying that is just not possible with the Sonaar player?
I am a voiceover artist and I plan on having 40-60 demo recordings available on my website. That's going to take up a lot of storage on my server which is why I decided to use a third-party streaming service but if it's impossible to download a recording directly I will have to reconsider that decision.
I have checked the websites of many of my fellow voiceover artists and 100% of them offer the download option.
can you provide me an example of website that offer downloads button that download an audio file from another server so I can check how this is possible ?
Also, hosting 40 - 60 demos should not be an issue with any hosting provider nowadays which offers a lot of disk space and bandwidth...We have seen websites that host over 10K audio files on their server and its faster than most websites.
I have just looked at around 15 voiceover websites that offer a download option and, so far as I can tell, they all appear to store their voice demos on their server. I cannot remember how I came to the conclusion that was such a bad idea but, given this and your comments about on-site storage and site speed, I am now inclined to store my demos on my own server.
Thank you for taking the time to help me with this. I am really happy with the MP3 player and now look forward to getting more demos onto my website.
By the way, on the page containing your list of Supported Audio Streaming Providers, you ask to be notified if anyone comes across a streaming service that works well with your MP3 player but is not on your list. Publit.io appears to work seamlessly with the player, is very easy to set up and use, and even offers up to 5GB of free storage. It does not appear to be as sophisticated as some of the other streaming services on your list but for many people simple is quite often better.
