Hi - we have had recent reports of the audio player stopping at the end of a track when users open up an app on a ios device. Specifically Shopify POS app but I have also tested and it happens with other apps. It is not happening when navigating away to web pages, the music continues to play in this instance.

This only appears to started happening early last week.

    Hi,

does this happens with other websites that has player on it ? I think this issue is more iOS related. I recommend you check on iOS forums if you can control this

    Thanks,

    Hi Max,

So basically if you navigate away from the web browsing session on IOS it kills the audio. So if you return to your home screen the audio not continue to play. Is this what you expect to happen? Looks like this only started happening from IOS 17

There's a problem with the new iOS 17 that stops audio from playing when it uses WebAudioAPI (Animated Audio Spectrum).

To fix this temporarily, turn off the Animated Audio Spectrum feature. By doing this, the audio won't use Web Audio API, and it will play on iOS. We're keeping an eye on it, and we hope Apple will fix it in an upcoming update.

We have heard the issue is fixed on iOS 17.1 BETA2 but we have not tried it yet.

Many people talk about it on the web. eg: https://discourse.threejs.org/t/audiocontext-ios-17/56482/15

Oh, you are referring to the next track that does not start when the browser lose focus. This is known issue and its caused by iOS 17.

We are waiting for a fix from an hotfix by Apple.

    Hi Max,

Are you aware if a fix for the below has happened yet?

To confirm my problem - when using ios devices if you navigate away from the browsing session (not closing) the music will stop (or not load the next track).

If you open another tab the music will continue to play, it seems to be related to minimizing the browsing session or opening another app - basically the music will not continue to play in the background like it used too.

The problem appears to be related to some versions of ios 17 but not all.

    Hi Max,

Are you able to test our service on an ipad (IOS version 17.3.1) both when not navigating away from the session and when navigating away from the session to see if the player is performing as expected.

We are having reports of the music stopping in both instances - I must stress that this has only started since ios 17 software release.

    Hi,

as stated before, the issue is related with iOS, not our plugin.
